Just a few weeks to go until Malakyte’s first interstate tour for 2013. We will be heading out to play three shows in Western Australia for the WEST COAST THRASH ASSAULT!

This Saturday! The third and last of our “3 BIG BRISBANE SHOWS” month… METAL HEART FESTIVAL!
Come on down and help support this awesome cause while rocking out to some amazing acts from around the country. We will be performing alongside FRANKENBOK, 4ARM, OUROBOROS, PORTAL, A BREACH OF SILENCE, and countless others with sidestages of burlesque and suspension acts.
This will be our last show in Brisbane before our WA tour!
Saturday 20 April at Mansfield Tavern. Tickets $25 through Moshtix or $30 at the door. Malakyte will be performing at 4:20pm.
(…we are playing at twenty-past-four on the twentieth of the fourth.)
Charging from the back of a very eventful week of shows and addition of new vocalist Tommy Muz, Brisbane’s Malakyte are happy to announce that they are in the midst of recording their first full-length album.
Malakyte made their first live appearance with Muz supporting US thrash giants Anthrax on February 21 at The Hi-Fi in Brisbane, to an extremely enthusiastic crowd response. Following this, the band was picked up as a last-minute addition as “Special Guests” for Brisbane’s SOUNDWAVE FESTIVAL that weekend.
The band’s debut album is currently being engineered by Sam Alcock (of Defamer) and will feature ten songs. A music video is also currently in development by Adrian Pagano of Infected Monkey Film Productions & Media.
Malakyte’s future plans for 2013 will include a tour of Western Australia in May, and are currently planning an East Coast tour for later in the year (a confirmed date is at Sydney’s “Steel Assassins” festival with Elm Street, Hazmat, Gorefield, NZ’s Razorwyre and many more).
Malakyte have been offered a last-minute spot on the bill at Soundwave today.
We are the “Special Guest” on Stage 3 at 2:20pm.
Make sure you catch The Schoenberg Automaton, who also scored the local slot at Stage 1 at 11am.
See you all there!
Firstly, and most importantly, we want to thank you all for giving our new frontman Tommy Muz such a warm welcome into the Malakyte family last night. We’re incredibly stoked to have this energetic young fellow on board as vocalist, and we hope you all enjoyed his first live outing! We look forward to ambushing you all again with plenty more live assaults with Muz in the near future!
Secondly, a further thanks to all you maniacs for tearing it up in the moshpit! It was a real honour to be opening for the mighty metal royalty that is ANTHRAX, and we hope you all had as much fun in the pit as we did on stage. Special thanks to Peter Gritt, and to Chris & Nick from Soundwave Touring for giving us this incredible opportunity!
Also give it up for Gareth Graham of Epic Sound Productions and Adrian Pagano of Infected Monkey Film Productions for handling our sound and for filming the spectacle. Also extended thanks to Amanda Brenchley, Greg Morgan, Ari Heinikainen, and Davey Rintala. Thanks also to anyone else we’ve not mentioned and helped out in any way or form, you know who you are!
Cheers everyone! See you soon!

Malakyte are proud as punch to announce the arrival of our new frontman Tommy Muz!
Formerly of thrashers Konskriptor, Muz has been a great friend to the Malakyte camp since the very beginnings, and we’re very much looking forward to unleashing his razor-sharp vocals upon all you unsuspecting maniacs at our next show!
…and when will that be, you ask?
…when we will be opening for thrash metal titans ANTHRAX next Thursday at the Hi-Fi!
See you maniacs there!
It is with great regret we announce that we have parted ways with our vocalist, Oompa. We feel this is not the place to disclose our reasons for this decision but we’d like to let it be known we wish him no hard feelings, and we would like to thank him for his time, effort and talents he has contributed to the band over the past two years. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
We are hopeful that this will not affect the relationships we’ve established with all of our amazing friends and fans, and this does not by any means spell the end for Malakyte. We will be back on the live scene soon.
Thank you everyone.
- Malakyte.
Our website looks a little different than usual. We’re getting this rectified as soon as possible. (EDIT: Fixed).
On another note, thanks to all you wonderful people who came and caught our set last night at the Hi-Fi with ALESTORM! We had the most fun experience we’ve ever had on stage with the UK pirate-metallers, and we were very glad that our local drinking-buddies Lagerstein could also be part of the bill as they too unleashed a very entertaining set. And who could forget those Barbarion lads? All in all, a very fun night.
Our extended thank-yous go out to Soundworks Touring, Adrian Pagano of Infected Monkey Film Productions & Media, Amanda Brenchley Photography, Gareth Graham of Epic Sound Productions, and all of you wonderful people who came out and saw us!
